PC SEAL

Polycarboxylate Cement
PC SEAL

Description

PC SEAL manufactured by AMMDENT, is a carboxylate cement for fixation and lining.

Fields of Application

  • Fixation of metal, metallo-porcelain, or composite veneered inlays, on lays, crowns, and bridges.
  • Fixation of composite or ceramic inlays, on lays, crowns, and bridges, if suited for conventional cementing.
  • Fixation of rods and screws, if suited for conventional cementing.
  • Fixation of orthodontic bands.
  • Linings

Removing Excess Material

To simplify cleaning, remove any excess material shortly before the definitive setting of the material using an instrument. Be careful to avoid pulling any material from the seam. After the setting time has elapsed remove any remaining excess material, e. g. with a probe.

Precautions

Dose the liquid directly prior to mixing to avoid the evaporation of ingredients.

Powder and liquid bottles and the dosing syringe should be carefully resealed after use.

Incompatibilities

In susceptible individuals, sensitization to the product cannot be excluded. Use of the product should be discontinued and the product completely withdrawn from contact with the patient, if allergic reactions are observed.

In rare cases, complications of the pulp may occur, especially if the recommendations for processing were disregarded.

Storage & Shelf-life

Do not store the product above 25°C/77°F.

Do not use after the expiration date.

Preparation

To provide for optimal adhesion, carefully clean enamel, dentin, and metal surfaces.

Blow the cavity dry in only 2-3 short intervals with water and oil-free air or dab dry with cotton pellets. Do not over-dry!

The cavity should be just so dry that the surface has a matt shiny appearance.

Excessive drying with compressed air can negatively affect adhesion or result in post-operative sensitivity after seating the restoration.

The metal surfaces should be dried well with compressed air.

Avoid further contamination by saliva.

Pulp Protection

To prevent pulp irritation, areas in the vicinity of the pulp should be dabbed with hard-curing calcium hydroxide preparation, before taking an impression of the tooth for the definitive restoration.

Dosing & Mixing

Powder:

Assemble the dosing rod prior to use!

Press the dosing rod into the powder, and then remove excess powder with some instrument.

Dose the powder onto a mixing block or glass plate by lightly tapping the dosing rod.

Avoid under-dosing the powder (especially in free dosing), since this may impair the quality of the cement.

Liquid:

Holding the bottle vertically dispense single droplets next to the powder by lightly squeezing the bottle.

Mixing Ratio

The following powder/liquid mixing ratios apply:

For fixation: 0.15 g powder: 0.10 g liquid universal or,

0.20 g powder: 0.10 g liquid low viscosity.

For lining: 0.25 g powder: 0.10 g liquid universal

These quantities are not identical to the quantities required for one application!

Process PC SEAL at an ambient temperature of 20-25°C/68-77°F. Mix with a metal or plastic cement spatula. Place all powder into the liquid in one move and mix until a homogeneous consistency is attained.

Application

The material adheres to metal instruments and, hence, should be washed off with cold water prior to setting.

Keep the work area dry during application of the material. Neighboring teeth or crowns may be lubricated with vaseline.

Apply a thin layer of cement to the inside of the crown and the prepared tooth. Avoid overfilling the crown.

Subsequently, insert the restoration.
